UTICA, N.Y. — A former Oneida County sheriff’s deputy charged with attempted murder and arson appeared in court Monday.
Aaron Alshaman is accused of setting a house on fire in Utica last April with his baby, the baby’s mother and her parents inside. Alshaman was on duty at the time.
In court Monday morning, prosecutors said they plan to call 50 witnesses at trial. It is set to start June 15.
If convicted, Alshaman faces up to 25 years in prison.
