WEBSTER, N.Y. — The town of Webster celebrated the start of Pride Month Monday morning with a pride flag raising outside the town hall.
June marks the beginning of Pride Month, a time to commemorate the contributions of the LGBTQ community and honor the generations-long fight for equality.
Attendees say pride celebrations like this shouldn’t be controversial.
“It’s not necessarily a political statement. It’s recognizing that Webster supports people in the LGBTQ community and so I’m very supportive of it,” said attendee Matt Jonasse.
The town supervisor told News10NBC he paid for the flag with his own money, not with taxpayer dollars.
