SYRACUSE, N.Y. — A Syracuse man has been sentenced to prison for killing his son and a Rochester woman.
On Friday, David Huff was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison for the death of 11-year-old Jeremiah Huff and 32-year-old Yeraldith Tschudy, News10NBC’s Syracuse affiliate reports.
Huff was charged with two counts of murder for each of their deaths. He pleaded guilty to his charges in an Onondaga County courtroom on April 28. He admitted to shooting Jeremiah and Tschudy with a shotgun in March 2025.
Video from the courtroom that day captured Huff smiling and laughing while the judge read the crimes to the court. He told the court he “had a joke” stuck in his head.

According to our affiliate, Huff’s family spoke out at his sentencing, sharing memories of Jeremiah and admonished Huff for killing him. Our affiliate also says Huff apologized for his behavior on April 28.
Initially, Huff was also charged with attempted murder for pointing a shotgun at this stepfather.
