Greg Sankey addressed Arkansas AD Hunter Yurachek’s statement from Wednesday night, which eviscerated ESPN for its scheduling of the Razorbacks’ Week 2 and 3 matchups.
The Razorbacks are set to travel to Salt Lake City for Week 2’s matchup against Utah, a game that’s set to kick off on Saturday at 9:15 CT on ESPN. The following Saturday, Arkansas hosts Georgia at 11 am CT. Keep in mind that Utah and especially Georgia can safely be considered top 20 teams in the country heading into the new season.

Here’s what Sankey had to say about Yurachek’s comments and ESPN’s scheduling “squeeze.”
“We have communicated the displeasure in advance. It hasn’t changed. That’s one of those points of authority that are given to our broadcast partner. And the squeeze on the West Coast games, we don’t have to do what other college conferences do by comparison. And then the squeeze with the early kickoff is not something that I’m thrilled about either, but we do delegate that authority as part of our TV contracts.”

— Trey Wallace (@TreyWallace) May 27, 2026Sometimes, it just is what it is. ESPN pays the SEC a lot of money (a deal that runs through 2034, by the way) to control kickoff times, as alluded to by Sankey’s contract statement.
