One of those was Georgia Tech standout Ahmari Harvey. A fifth-year senior who originally committed to Auburn in 2021, Harvey played the past four seasons for the Yellow Jackets.

In his four-year collegiate career, Harvey was an impact player for their defense. He played in 43 games and was a starter for the last three seasons. In that time, he amassed 121 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 4 interceptions, and 12 pass deflections, and two forced fumbles. With that in mind, it’s hard to believe Harvey (or any other undrafted rookie free agent) will have a good shot at making the final roster. However, he certainly was a great signee post-draft and has the potential be a future reserve.
He did not test well during the pre-draft circuit, which may have been due to a foot injury that kept him out of several games in his final season at Georgia Tech. However, his play on the field shows an aggressive player who uses his length and physicality at the catch point to routinely deflect passes.
In over 1,500 career collegiate snaps, Harvey played in various spots for the Yellow Jackets’ defense. Primarily operating on the boundary, he also saw over 15-percent of his career snaps from the nickel—a position many scouts and analysts feel his NFL potential is best due to lack of size. He appears to be at his best working in off-man coverage and in zone concepts.

He was targeted 121 times and allowed 57 receptions for 752 yards and five touchdowns. He had the second-highest forced incompletion rate in college football last season (44-percent) and allowed just 47-percent of passes to be caught on him. While a willing tackler, it isn’t his strong suit and had a 15-percent career missed tackle rate.
Final Thoughts
Just like I had written with my profile on Brent Austin, Harvey has an uphill battle making the Broncos’ final 53-man roster. With Patrick Surtain II, Riley Moss, Ja’Quan McMillian, Kris Abrams-Draine, and Jahdae Barron set to be the team’s top five—it’s really hard to see any of these undrafted rookie free agents making the position.
However, you always need developmental players and depth at the position. Harvey may not be a roster contributor in 2026, but with McMillian and Moss as pending free agents after this year, there is a chance he could legitimately compete for a spot in Denver’s secondary in 2027.
