Walk-Year Prospects, a Good Night for Pridham, Avs in Trouble, and Other Blackhawks Bullets ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

On Friday afternoon the Rockford IceHogs tweeted a link to their always-helpful player tracker for the coming season. It’s a good one to bookmark because it updates contract statuses of guys who were on the roster this past year and others who might be joining.

However, as I was looking at the list a few names got my attention. Forward prospects Samuel Savoie, Gavin Hayes, Martin Mišiak and Paul Ludwinski are all heading into the third and final season of their respective entry-level contracts. With the injection of more recent Blackhawks draft picks into the system in the coming years — beginning with a brief look with the Blackhawks from Sacha Boisvert, seven AHL games late this season from Jiří Felcman and Marek Vanacker and AJ Spellacy going full-time pro in training camp this year — one has to wonder if any of these guys finds a new home this summer.

The excitement about Savoie being compared to Andrew Shaw when he initially joined the organization has quieted, in large part because of injuries. Ludwinski’s AHL time has also seen some injuries. As has Hayes’ time in Rockford.

Of those four, I would lean to Hayes being the most likely to get another contract from the Blackhawks. I’ve seen some Troy Brouwer in him if you play the long game (not a great skater but offensive instincts are there and he’ll do the dirty work). I’m interested to watch what happens with Savoie this summer and into camp.

Sticking with Blackhawks prospects, Jack Pridham scored a goal (see below) and added an assist as Kitchener started their Memorial Cup dance with a strong 5-0 victory.

— Ontario Hockey League (@OHLHockey) May 23, 2026 Hopefully Anton Frondell is okay. It appeared he might have hit his hand on the open door late in Sweden’s game at the World Championship yesterday.

— BHF (@BlackhawksFocus) May 22, 2026 Colorado has a problem. Without Cale Makar in the lineup for the second game to open the Western Conference Final, the top-seeded Avalanche lost again. Ivan Barbashev scored twice and picked up an assist on Vegas’ third goal — all coming in the third period — and the Golden Knights go home with a 2-0 lead in the series. Kevin Weekes tweeted that Buffalo Sabres goalie Devon Levi is generating interest on the trade market. He specifically mentioned Ottawa as a team to watch. On Friday’s episode of “The Sheet” with Jeff Marek, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reported the Vegas Golden Knights previously blocked the Edmonton Oilers from pursuing an assistant coach within the Vegas organization. More Vegas-Edmonton drama… Finally, happy 16th anniversary to one of the great moments in Blackhawks history. Getting to that Stanley Cup Final felt like it was… almost enough for many Hawks fans at the time because it had been so long and the dark days were so, so bad in between 1992 and 2010. But this was just a step towards what became a dynasty.
