ROCHESTER, N.Y. – We’re tracking widespread rain ahead of a warm front that will be affecting us for the majority of our Saturday. Rain will slowly creep in from south to north through the morning, eventually reaching the Rochester metro by 10am. From there, rain will simply go on and on besides a possible short break this evening… Rain totals will not be enough to cause any widespread flooding, so we will stay Green on the Threat Tracker. Temperatures fall to and stay near 50 this afternoon, and a decent breeze will also be present with maximum wind gusts out of the southeast at 30 MPH this afternoon.
Rain showers continue overnight through early Sunday morning, then transitioning to light drizzles through the mid morning. But by the afternoon, skies will turn partly sunny and the warm front will start to do its work as temperatures climb to the very comfortable low to mid 70s. More showers are then possible overnight Sunday.
Memorial Day will be the best out of the holiday weekend. Chances for rain are much lower; in fact, we expect bountiful sunshine and highs again the mid 70s for the afternoon. Perfect grilling weather and no travel concerns.
Following the holiday weekend an extended very pleasant weather pattern will set up. Multiple rounds of high pressure dropping out of Canada will keep our skies sunny, our temperatures warm, and our humidity tolerable through all of next week.
Stay tuned for updates on the forecast.
