ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Fire Department hosted a “Stop the Bleed” course at the Public Safety Training Facility on Scottsville Road.
Firefighters shared first aid skills and tips on how to identify and stop specific kinds of bleeds. They say it’s important that people do basic first aid before first responders get there.
“If you bleed out, there’s nothing that we can do, But if you have someone next you that knows wow that’s an arterial bleed we should stop it, they can stop it, they can help save the life of that person before we get there, we can apply a tourniquet and see what we can do to help,” said David Abdoch, who’s with the Rochester Fire Department.
