The Los Angeles Rams don’t seem too eager to move on from Matthew Stafford, for at least the next couple of years.
The NFL MVP has agreed to a one-year, $55 million contract extension that could be worth up to $60 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Stafford was already under contract for 2026, so this deal will make him among the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL for 2027.

The Rams confirmed the deal minutes after Schefter’s report.
The deal comes only weeks after the Rams drafted Stafford’s apparent successor Ty Simpson with the 13th overall pick of the 2026 NFL Draft, which was the most shocking moment of the night.
