Los Alamitos Aquatomics’ Madalyn Baily has announced her commitment to Smith College, joining the Bears as a member of the 2026 recruiting class.
Baily messaged SwimSwam regarding her commitment, stating that she is “looking to continue academic and swimming excellence!”
Baily hails from Los Alamos, New Mexico, and represented Los Alamos High School. As a senior, Baily competed at the New Mexico State Championships. There she swam one race, finishing 14th in the 500 free in 5:52.40.
Her best 500 free came at the 2022 LCAT Daniel France Memorial meet, where she swam her fastest ever 500 free in 5:33.38, as well as a plethora of other career best times, such as the 200 free (2:05.46), 1650 free (19:01.75), and 200 IM (2:40.19).
Baily also clocked a pair of sprint freestyle best times at the 2023 New Mexico Short Course State Championships, stopping the clock in 28.02 in the 50 free and 1:00.97 in the 100 free.

200 Free: 2:05.46 500 Free: 5:33.38 1000 Free: 11:26.12 1650 Free: 19.01.75Smith College, located in Northampton, Massachusetts, competes in the NEWMAC conference in Division III.
Last season, Smith College earned its highest finish in 18 years at the NEWMAC conference championships, scoring 150 more points than the year prior, for a total of 492.

Baily’s best times would have ranked 3rd among Smith’s 1650 performers last season, 7th on the roster in the 500 free, and 7th in the 200 free.
Baily joins Ava Cuellar and Phoebe Ballek in Smith’s incoming 2026 recruiting class.
