ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Two months after a court ruling stripped the Rochester Police Accountability Board of its authority, the board is set to reveal its plan going forward.
Board members will speak about the plan at a meeting on Thursday at Rochester City Hall. It begins at 6 p.m. The PAB says it will focus on four pillars, the first focusing on strengthening the organization. Another pillar focuses on redefining civilian oversight through a “legally sustainable” oversight model.
In addition, the PAB is looking to expand its capacity when it comes to identifying trends and analyzing policing practices, and to improve community engagement. Ultimately, the board is hoping to create dashboards, insight briefs, trend reports, proposals for change, and other resources for community members. The PAB also recently announced the appointment of Dr. Ashley Campbell as the interim policy and oversight director.
