ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A 46-year-old man is facing charges after Rochester Police say he shot a dog.
Police say it happened on May 5 on First Street. Officers responded to the area and found a 3-year-old French Bulldog with a gunshot wound to the rear leg. Police say the dog survived.
According to police, preliminary investigation found Wesley Brown was walking on the sidewalk when the dog, “Miracle,” barked at him. Police say Brown then pulled out a handgun and shot the dog at least once before leaving the scene.
Brown was found and safely taken into custody Wednesday by the United States Marshal’s Task Force. He is charged with Criminal possession of a weapon in the second and third degrees, aggravated cruelty to animals, and criminal mischief.
Police say Brown isn’t allowed to have a firearm in New York State due to a previous robbery conviction and criminal possession of a weapon conviction.
Brown was brought to the Monroe County Jail and is set to be arraigned later Thursday morning.
