The Phoenix Suns and Mercury are extending their media rights partnership with Arizona’s Family through 2030 in a deal that comes with a new streaming option.
The Arizona’s Family Sports app is expected to launch in the coming days and will feature “Suns+” and “Merc+.”
“We’re so excited to expand our partnership with Arizona’s Family because everything we do is for our fans,” Suns and Mercury owner Mat Ishbia said in a press release Wednesday. “Making Suns and Mercury games free and accessible across Arizona has been a main focus of mine and will continue to be, because these are truly the community’s teams.
“This media deal is about putting our fans first, which I have always said we will do and we will continue to do for years to come.”
The news of the extension comes three years after the two sides came to an agreement to broadcast games over the air. That included giving away 10,000 free TV antennas for fans throughout the state.
Since then, Suns viewership has increased with more than 110,000 viewers per game in Arizona and a top-four mark in the NBA’s local household viewership, according to data from Nielsen Live. The Mercury, meanwhile, have seen almost a 500% viewer increase since the move to over the air.
