Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar discussed with his Tunisian counterpart Mustapha Ferjani ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation in the health sector and exchanging expertise and successful experiences in healthcare.
Health Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar said in a press statement on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, that the meeting, held on the sidelines of the 79th session of the World Health Assembly in Geneva, addressed strengthening partnership between the two sides within the framework of the “One Health” approach.
The discussions aimed at supporting efforts to confront regional health challenges, foremost among them combating epidemics, enhancing health security, addressing the repercussions of climate change, as well as antimicrobial resistance and food and water safety.
The spokesperson added that the two ministers also discussed cooperation in developing primary healthcare, hospital management and emergency systems, in addition to activating agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between the two countries.
They further explored cooperation in medical tourism, unified procurement of medicines and medical supplies and the exchange of doctors in priority specializations.
Both sides stressed the importance of continued joint coordination to support the Palestinian health sector and strengthen rapid response to health emergencies, contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals and supporting health security in the Arab and African regions.
