ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A Rochester nonprofit is behind a wave of new charter schools expected to open in the city soon. News10NBC’s Lynette Adams recently spoke with the founders of three new charter schools, as well as the organization’s executive director.
READY, which stands for Rochester Educational Development for Youth, has worked with the founders of the new charter schools, which are set to launch in Rochester starting this September or in the following school year.
The nonprofit aims to improve educational opportunities and outcomes for Rochester’s children while challenging educators to think outside the box to create new curricula, programs, and schools for the students.
Lynette sat down with READY Founder and Executive Director Dr. Shanai Lee to discuss what appears to be an explosion of new educational opportunities in the city. She had previously interviewed Lee a couple of years ago when READY was just getting started.
The three schools in development are B.R.I.C.K, led by Domonique Lee; Bella Vista School of the Arts, led by Dr. Oscia Miles; and Zealous Builder Academy, led by Hailey Cox. Lynette brought back interviews from the archives with the founders of each school to highlight their plans.
