2026 Sun Devil Open
Friday, May 15 – Sunday, May 17, 2026 Mona Plummer Aquatic Center, Tempe, AZ LCM (50 meters) Meet Central Psych Sheets SwimSwam Preview Live Results on Meet Mobile: “2026 Sun Devil Open” Day 1 RecapThe 2nd day of the 2026 Sun Devil Open wrapped up on Saturday, and there were a few strong swims, particularly on the men’s side.
Andy Dobrzanski, who recently wrapped up his collegiate career at ASU, won the men’s 100 breaststroke in a new personal best time 1:00.49. This swim took half-a-second off the 1:01.03 mark he swam at this meet last year. This swim would have earned him a spot in the ‘A’ final at last year’s United States Nationals, where he would have finished 7th overall.

The women’s 100 breast went to the University of Arizona’s Carrie Kramer in 1:12.19. This swim was a full second drop from her previous best of 1:13.38 which she swam last May.
Adam Chaney continues to impress, winning the men’s 50 backstroke in 25.09. His lifetime best is 24.75 from last year in June, but this is one of his fastest performances ever in the event.

Chaney also swam the 100 backstroke final, but was disqualified after the video seems to show him finishing just ahead of Alex Desangles, from the University of Arizona, who touched in 55.19. In the video, it looks like Chaney, who was in lane 6, comes up after the 15-meter mark on the start, and shortly after he emerges, the official on his side raised their hand.
Chaney’s lifetime best is 53.08 from the 2024 Olympic Trials, while Desangles has a best of 54.09 from June of 2025.
You can watch the video of the race here. Chaney is in lane six (four from the top) and Desangles is in lane four (four from the bottom).

On the women’s side, Sun Devil swimmers Marie Wattel and Julia Ullmann both picked up their 2nd individual event wins of the meet.
Wattel won the women’s 200 freestyle, swimming 2:00.11 to win by more than two seconds over teammate Grace Lindberg‘s 2:02.34. Wattel’s best stands at 1:58.83 from June of 2023, while Lindberg dropped two tenths from her previous best of 2:02.69, set in June.

In the women’s 100 fly, Julia Ullmann swam 59.78 to come out ahead of the rest of the field by more than a second. Her swim was just off her lifetime best of 59.32, which she set in June of 2024.
