ALBANY, N.Y. — The state’s public campaign finance board says it plans to appeal a court ruling that restored candidate Bruce Blakeman’s eligibility for public campaign funds in the race for governor.

Attorneys for the board filed notice this week to appeal the State Supreme Court justice’s decision. That decision says the board didn’t follow its own rules when it didn’t give Blakeman’s campaign proper notice of new paperwork requirements. That incomplete paperwork meant that Blakeman, currently the Nassau County executive, could not access the funds.

The ruling could unlock $3.5 million for Blakeman’s campaign. Blakeman, a Republican, is running against Gov. Kathy Hochul. News10NBC will continue to track the appeal.
