A suspect was charged with attempted murder in what authorities described as an “unprovoked” and “sudden” attack at a hotel in northwest suburban McHenry, police said Saturday.
Colin Foster, 28, of McHenry, was taken into custody on charges of attempted murder and two counts of aggravated battery with great bodily harm, according to a news release from the McHenry Police Department.
Police said, at around 12 a.m. on Saturday, officers responded to the Hampton Inn, 919 W. Dale Dr., for a reported disturbance. Authorities allege Foster stabbed a 48-year-old man with a knife multiple times. The victim was taken to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect also allegedly attacked a 38-year-old man, who wasn’t stabbed.
Police said all three individuals were staying at the hotel, and there’s no known connection between Foster and the victims.
Foster was lodged in the McHenry County Jail, where he was awaiting court proceedings.
