26-year-old Lewis Clareburt tried the men’s 100m freestyle on for size, where the versatile ace settled for silver in 48.83, a new lifetime best by .13.
Leading the charge was 22-year-old United teammate Cameron Gray, who got to the wall in 48.66 as the winner.
Gray opened in 23.40 and closed in 25.26 to get the job done, coming within striking distance of the 48.26 New Zealand national record he established at the 2024 edition of this competition.
Carter Swift rounded out the podium this evening in 49.21 as the only other sub-50-second swimmer of the pack.
Erika Fairweather dove in as lead-off on her North Shore squad’s 4x200m freestyle relay.
Fairweather ripped a mark of 1:55.79 to help deliver the victory to her team, with her outing not far off the 1:55.06 national record she set en route to winning the individual 200m freestyle event earlier in the competition.

Brearna Crawford doubled up on her 100m breaststroke victory with a win in the 50m sprint of the discipline. Crawford got to the wall in 32.11, just a hair ahead of Zyleika Pratt-Smith, who settled for silver in 32.20. Maya Zunker was also in the mix, logging 32.30 for the bronze medal. 17-year-old Ariel Muchirahondo delivered a time of 1:59.33 to get his hands on the wall first in the men’s 200m fly. That handily defeated the field, with 18-year-old Daniel Kregting the next-closest competitor in 2:02.29. Australia’s Harvey Larke placed 3rd this evening in 2:03.06. The women’s 50m back saw Coast’s Amber George get it done for gold, turning in an effort of 27.94.
