2026 NEW ZEALAND SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Glenn National Aquatic Centre LCM (50m) Meet Central Day 1 Recap Results LivestreamDay two of the 2026 New Zealand Swimming Championships unfolded tonight from the Sir Owen G. Glenn National Aquatic Center and we saw our first national record bite the dust.
We reported how Olympian and world champion Erika Fairweather lowered her own New Zealand benchmark in the women’s 200m freestyle, firing off a new lifetime best of 1:55.06 en route to gold. You can read more about her impressive feat here.
On the men’s side, Olympic finalist and Commonwealth Games champion Lewis Clareburt got the job done in the 100m fly, producing a winning effort of 52.69.
Clareburt represented the sole contestant of the field to delve under the 53-second barrier, as Thomas Nankervis of Australia snagged silver in 53.16 and Christopher Elson rounded out the podium in 53.77.
As for Clareburt, his mark this evening checked in as the 2nd-swiftest performance of the 26-year-old’s career. He owns a lifetime best of 52.54 from the 2023 edition of these championships.
Harrison Klouwens led a United Swimming Club monopoly on the men’s 50m freestyle podium, getting to the wall first in 22.32.
23-year-old teammate Michael Pickett captured silver in 22.51 and squadmate Cameron Gray also landed on the podium in 22.56, good enough for bronze.

Coast Swimming Club’s Amber George proved too quick to catch in the women’s 100m backstroke, turning in a result of 1:00.27. Opening in 29.64 and closing in 30.63, George eked out the victory ahead of Milan Glintmeyer, who touched a hair later in 1:00.36. Savannah-Eve Martin took 3rd place tonight in 1:01.02. The women’s 100m breast saw 23-year-old Brearna Crawford claim the win, hitting 1:09.92 as the sole swimmer under the 1:10 threshold. James Leigh, just 19 years of age, reaped gold in the men’s 400m freestyle in 3:52.28, clearing the field by nearly two seconds.
