2026 CIF-San Francisco Swimming & Diving Championship
May 8-9, 2026 Los Angeles, CA – East Los Angeles College SCY (25 Yards) ResultsGirls
The Lowell girls dominated the CIF San Francisco Swimming and Diving Championships. Samantha Vu, Samantha Quach, and Amanda Vu each won twice as the team swept the swimming event finals on Saturday, May 9.
After the team won the 200 medley relay, Vu got the team going in the individual events by winning the 200 freestyle. Vu, who races for the Olympic Club when not competing for her high school team, clocked a 1:54.93. She controlled the race from start to finish and was the only girl under the 2:00 mark in the final. Later, Vu was back on the blocks for the 500 freestyle, logging a 5:15.01 for the win.
While Vu took care of the longer freestyle races for Lowell, Quach handled the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly. It was a quick double for Quach, with only the varsity boys’ 50 freestyle final and the junior varsity 100 butterfly finals between her two swims. Quach took the 50 freestyle win in 24.84. Then, she won the 100 butterfly in 59.62 and was the only swimmer to break a minute in the final.
Vu, another The Olympic Club member, was the third Lowell swimmer to complete her individual event double. The senior got her individual slate started by winning the100 freestyle in 53.01. Vu is a senior committed to Vanderbilt and holds 52.16 lifetime best in the event from November 2024. Later, Vu won the 100 backstroke in 55.12, nearing her 54.90 lifetime best from July 2024.
Angela Nguyen and Chelsea Ly picked up the other individual event wins for the Lowell girls. Nguyen won the 200 IM in 2:17.66, which is about 2.5 seconds off her 2:15.17 lifetime best. Ly logged a 1:09.62 lifetime best to win the 100 breaststroke, the final individual event of the girls’ program.
The Lowell varsity girls crushed the team standings competition. They racked up 288 points for the win, while Galileo edged out Lincoln for second-place. Galileo scored 74 points to Lincoln’s 63.

Like the girls’ team, the Lowell varsity boys were on fire during the finals session. The school swept all three varsity relays but did not pull off the individual event sweep. That possibility was denied to them in the very first event, as Lincoln junior James Liu won the 200 freestyle. Liu clocked a 1:46.12—which is a lifetime best per SwimCloud—touching well clear of the second-place Leo Degiovanni. Liu also won the 50 freestyle with a lifetime best 22.08, pulling ahead of Lincoln’s Max Laxo (22.67) for the win.
Lowell won the rest of the individual events. Alex Kuang swam two lifetime bests for his double event wins, first taking the 200 IM in 2:02.07. Later, he led a Lowell 1-2-3 sweep of the 100 freestyle, touching in 49.48. This appears to be the first time Kuang has broken 50 seconds in an official race.
Jian Jing, Aiden Wong, Kyle Troung, and Zhiyuan Zhou rounded out Lowell’s individual event winners over the back half of the meet. Jing took the 100 butterfly (53.05), Wong the 500 freestyle (5:16.23), Troung the 100 backstroke (54.02), and Zhou the 100 breaststroke (1:02.04).
The Lowell boys won by over 200 points ahead of second-place Washington. Liu’s two event wins helped Lincoln to a third-place finish with 84 points.
