TORONTO — A new class of swimming’s rising stars are set to benefit from enhanced high-performance support as Swimming Canada announces its 2026 High Performance Centre (HPC) Scholarship recipients.
The HPC Scholarship Program provides targeted support to athletes, helping them access world-class daily training environments at Swimming Canada’s High-Performance Centres in Vancouver and Toronto.
Selected athletes may receive up to $5,000 annually for up to two years to visit and engage with either the High-Performance Centre – Vancouver, based at the University of British Columbia, or the High-Performance Centre – Ontario, based at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre.
Athletes who commit to training full-time at one of the Centres following high school graduation may be eligible for up to $10,000 per year for three to four years to help offset training and living expenses.
“This program plays a critical role in identifying and supporting the next generation of Canadian swimming talent,” said John Atkinson, director high performance and national coach. “This funding plays a role in helping to remove some of the key barriers young athletes face at a critical stage in their development while providing them access to daily high-performance environments earlier, which is essential for long-term success on the international stage.”
