ROCHESTER, N.Y. – We’re back to Green on the Threat Tracker as a cold front helps to clear out any passing showers this morning. Starting off, temperatures are nice and seasonable in the mid to upper 40s, but we only warm up to the upper 50s today – A solid 10 degrees below normal. So if you’re headed to the Lilac Festival (hopefully bringing Mom with you), you’re going to need a sweater. Otherwise expect mostly sunny skies and a breeze up to 25 MPH out of the west.
If you’re headed to Watkins Glen for the NASCAR race, you will likely be dealing with some mud driving up to the track due to the rain last night and early this morning, and conditions for the race itself will be sunny but cool with temps near 60 to start, dipping down to the low 50s by 7pm.
We keep the dry, mostly sunny weather through Monday and Tuesday with highs in the mid 50s. Tuesday morning will be chilly however, with lows in the low to mid 30s… So patchy frost is once again possible especially to the south. After that we shouldn’t have to worry about frost again through next week.
Rain returns Tuesday night and will last through Wednesday, dumping about a half to three quarters of an inch of rain. Chances for showers continue Thursday, but the end of the workweek should be dry as we see temperatures begin to rise to near normal (around 70).
Over the next 7-14 days we expect the temperature to trend above normal and rainfall to be near normal. Stay tuned for updates on the forecast!
