ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A line of thunderstorms rolled through Western New York earlier this evening. As expected, these storms did not last very long but did produce a brief period of lightning, downpours, and gusty winds. These storms have weakened and moved east and will no longer be a threat for the remainder of this Saturday night. As a result, the News10NBC yellow alert has been discontinued.
A cold front associated with the storms will be cross the area around midnight. This will usher in much cooler temperatures, along with drier air for the remainder of the weekend. Sunday will be partly to mostly sunny, with the temperature likely being some ten degrees cooler than it was for Saturday. Jackets will be needed for the Lilac Festival or Mother’s Day events as the high temperature will reach the middle to upper 50s.
We should see several days of dry, sunny weather for the first half of the week. Then showers will return by Wednesday and Thursday.
