ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A new report from the New York Comptroller’s Office finds that even though New Yorkers’ incomes have been rising, for many families, they have not been keeping pace with inflation.

According to the report, from 2019 to 2024, inflation increased 23.1%. In that same time period, the statewide inflation-adjusted median household income increased 2% by $1,688, the report says.

But in 23 of the state’s 62 counties, the inflation-adjusted median income actually decreased. That’s what happened in Genesee, Wyoming and Steuben counties.

All the other counties in our region saw increases. Monroe County saw the largest increase of 3.3%.
