2026 CIF Southern Section Swimming – Division 1 Championships

April 29-May 10, 2026 Mt. San Antonio College Aquatic Center, Walnut, California Short Course Yards (25 yards), Prelims/Finals (9 per heat) Live Results available on Meet Mobile: “2026 CIF-SS Division 1”

The 2026 CIF Southern Section Division 1 Swimming & Diving Championship prelims kicked off Thursday at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California.

Santa Margarita, the two-time defending champion on both the boys’ and girls’ side, did not claim any individual top seeds, but looked strong depth-wise. The girls earned top seeds in two of the three relays, while the boys topped all three. Of course, nothing is ever certain until the finals unfold.

The Southern Section of the CIF has four divisions, with Division 1 generally being the biggest and fastest schools and Division 4 generally being the smallest schools.

Girls’ Highlights

Santa Monica sophomore Gabi Brito looked unstoppable in both of her individual events. She claimed the top seeds in both the 50 free (21.93) and 100 fly (51.41), events she is the defending champion in.

Brito sliced 0.02 off her best time in the 50 free, while her PB remains the 51.20 in the 100 fly. She recorded both her former 50 free and current 100 fly best times at Speedo Sectionals – Oceanside in February.

Her time in the 50 free keeps her ranked as the 8th-quickest swimmer in 15-16 age group history.

Brito did not swim at the CIF State meet last year.

Fountain Valley junior Alyssa Ton put herself into a strong position to defend her titles in the middle-distance free events. She stopped the clock in 1:45.95 in the former and 4:45.27 in the latter; the Tennessee commit advanced as the only swimmer sub-1:50 and sub-4:53.

Ton’s best times remain at the 1:44.12 and 4:43.39 she produced at the 2025 iteration of this competition.

West Ranch sophomore Emma Hussein was the only swimmer to crack 2:00 in the 200 IM. Her time of 1:59.02 placed her as the top seed by over four seconds, and after finishing third a year ago at both Sectionals and State and those above her having graduated, she looks like she is poised to take the mantle.

Woodbridge nabbed two top seeds on the day: juniors Isabella Parker (50.39, 100 free) and Tanja Amizic (55.18, 100 back) in the 100 back.

Parker was way back in 17th in this event a year ago, and her 0.24 PB this morning puts her in contention to win her first-ever sectional title in her second-ever ‘A’ final (she was sixth in the 50 free last season; she qualified third after prelims in that race Thursday, too).

Amizic, a Penn commit, was just 12 one-hundredths shy of her lifetime best, put looks on track to upgrade from her 4th place showing in 2025.

San Clemente’s squad of Wren Collins (26.38), Neva Phillips (28.74), Macie Weingart (25.45), and Zoe DeFabrique (23.84) claimed the top seed in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:44.41.

Santa Margarita was too quick to catch in the free relays; they hold nearly a full second advantage in both races heading into finals.

All Top Qualifiers:

200 Medley Relay: San Clemente, 1:44.41 200 Freestyle: Alyssa Ton (FOVA), 1:45.95 200 IM: Emma Hussein (WERN), 1:59.02 50 Freestyle: Gabriella Brito (SAMO), 21.93 100 Butterfly: Gabriella Brito (SAMO), 51.41 100 Freestyle: Isabella Parker (WOBR), 50.39 500 Freestyle: Alyssa Ton (FOVA), 4:45.27 200 Freestyle Relay: Santa Margarita, 1:34.64 100 Backstroke: Tanja Amizic (WOBR), 55.18 100 Breaststroke: Sofia Szymanowski (CODM), 1:00.33 400 Freestyle Relay: Santa Margarita, 3:27.59

Boys’ Highlights

Norwood senior Andrew Maksymowski was the sole boy to nab two top seeds on the day. Like Ton, he led the way in both the 200 (1:35.93) and 500 (4:26.58) free; the USC commit is the defending champion in both events.

His lifetime bests remain at 1:34.71 and 4:18.06, making him the clear favorite for not just Sectionals, but a key contender for State titles at the end of the month.

An exciting battle is brewing in the sprint free events: Newport Harbor senior Connor Ohl (20.13) and Jserra senior Nolan Baker (44.45) are the two headliners there. Stanford commit Ohl is the top seed in the former while Baker secured the top spot in the latter. Ohl was a near three-tenth advantage in the 50, though less than a tenth separates the duo in the 100.

Ohl is the defending champion in the 50, and was fourth in the 100 in 2025. Baker was the runner-up in both events last season.

Perhaps the race of the meet could be the 100 fly, where Damien senior Ryder Davis (49.04) led a field of six 49-point swims. He was fourth in the event a season ago.

Poly-Long Beach senior Lucas Jue (48.67) was the sole swimmer to dip under 49 in the 100 back, and he did so shortly after advancing second into the 500 free final. He has a near one-second advantage in this race, a nice cushion to have given the turnaround will being a bit tighter after the 500 on Saturday.

Corona del Mar junior Ethan Lim threw down a 54.98 to lead a deep 100 breaststroke field that includes six swimmers in the 55-second range
