HAMLIN, N.Y. — Local church leaders gathered their congregations outside the Town Hall on Lake Road Thursday night for the National Day of Prayer.
Organizers said this year was especially important, as it aligned with the United States’ 250th anniversary. People spoke and sang songs, giving thanks for the nation and seeking guidance for its future.
Rochester’s faith community also held a ceremony earlier in the day at City Hall.

This July 4, the U.S. will be commemorating 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
There will be various events and celebrations happening in Rochester and around Monroe County, including a parade in Gates on June 27, Fourth of July celebrations, and more.
