A 65-year-old Chicago man was struck and killed while in Los Angeles for last month’s Cubs-Dodgers series, authorities say.
According to authorities in California, 65-year-old Jose Melesio was visiting the area to attend one of the games when he was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on the morning of April 27.
At approximately 3:10 a.m., Melesio was struck near the intersection of 75th Street and Figueroa Street by a driver traveling at a high rate of speed, police said.
The driver then fled the scene, and Melesio was pronounced dead.
Authorities described the vehicle as a silver four-door sedan, which was traveling northbound on Figueroa Street. The driver then continued northbound after the collision.
Now, a $50,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the driver responsible, according to authorities.
