Emmerdale airs surprise jury verdict in Bear, Paddy and Dylan's trial in early ITVX release ...Middle East

News by : (Radio Times) -

Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards), Paddy Dingle (Dominic Brunt) and Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle) have been in court this week, facing trial for their involvement in Ray Walters's (Joe Absolom) death.

Bear was the one to eventually take Ray's life in a moment of madness, and having been left guilt-ridden, he handed himself into the police. Little did he realise, this would implicate Paddy and Dylan in the crime, who were charged with perverting the course of justice.

Paddy Dingle (Dominic Brunt) hoped that proving his dad wasn't of sound mind would result in a lesser sentence, and DS Walsh (Amanda Ryan) agreed that he was struggling so the CPS couldn't charge him while he was staying in a mental health institution.

There seemed to be light at the end of the tunnel when Simon "Simo" Clarke (Steven Gidwaney), another of the slaves, agreed to provide a testimony. This quickly turned sour when his recollection of events vastly differed from Bear's.

Fortunately, in today's episode, Bear's counsellor Lucy delivered a powerful account of her sessions with him, saying that he was clearly groomed by Ray and Celia, and that he was ultimately suffering from a form of Stockholm syndrome.

Three hours then passed, with the jury gathering to reach a verdict. The foreman revealed that two of them had been found not guilty, while one of them was guilty.

We then saw Paddy and Dylan standing in a field, reflecting on a tough few days. Paddy told him that he was now free to live his life, reconnect with girlfriend April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) and start afresh.

Bear believed that he should have been the one to face the consequences, though Paddy asserted that this was a new beginning for them all and that life could go back to a sense of normality.

As one chapter closes, will the family be able to move on?
