ALDI shoppers with a sweet tooth should be aware.

A dessert item sold by the Batavia-based discount grocery retailer has been recalled following concerns it may contain glass.

The manufacturer Lactalis Canada recalled more than 2,800 cases of the Specially Selected brand vanilla crème brûlée, according to an alert from the Food and Drug Administration.

The desserts are sold in an individual gas container, but it’s unclear how the glass contamination occurred.

The recalled desserts were sold in seven states: Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Maryland, New York and Virginia. A recall was announced by the manufacturer on April 14, two weeks before it was listed as Class II recall by the FDA.

According to the agency, a Class II recall is “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”
