ROCHESTER, N.Y. – We couldn’t have asked for a better start to the work week with mild air and sunshine on Monday, but that will be changing. Tuesday remains mild, with highs in the 60s, but we’ll see some showers making a return. Tuesday will be far from a washout, or even a wet day overall, but we’ll see a few occasional showers, especially during the afternoon. The Finger Lakes region should see the best chance of some storms ahead of our next cold front and wave of rain. Winds will also be noticeable on Tuesday, with a warming but gusty wind out of the southwest, with gusts to 30 mph at times.
Showers become a more steady light rain Tuesday night into the first part of Wednesday. The steadiest rain will begin to taper to more scattered showers into the afternoon and evening hours. With the clouds and persistent wet weather, temperatures will hold in the upper 40s to near 50 on Wednesday. Most areas will see a soaking rain between Tuesday night and midday Wednesday, with another half inch to an inch of rain across Rochester and the Finger Lakes.
We’ll remain cooler than average for the rest of the week, but tend to dry things out. While we won’t see widespread rain for the rest of the week (after Wednesday), cooler air aloft will spark a few pop up afternoon showers Thursday or Friday. Temperatures will hold in the 50s for the rest of the work week. Average highs are now in the mid 60s.
