The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has issued a warning regarding a significant shift in weather patterns. Temperatures are expected to drop by 6°C to 7°C across the northern regions, extending to Greater Cairo and Northern Upper Egypt.
While daytime conditions will remain relatively warm in most areas and hot in Southern Upper Egypt, temperatures will turn cool overnight nationwide.
Greater Cairo is expected to see a high of 26°C and a low of 14°C, with a 20 percent chance of light scattered showers throughout the day.
Rainfall and flood risks
Forecasts indicate moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied by occasional thunderstorms, along the North Coast and Northern Nile Delta. In South Sinai and the Gulf of Aqaba, these conditions may escalate into flash floods at irregular intervals. Additionally, light to moderate rain is expected across the Southern Nile Delta, the Canal Cities, and parts of the Red Sea governorate.
Wind and maritime warning
Winds are projected to reach speeds of 40 to 50 km/h, potentially gusting up to 70 km/h. These winds may trigger sand and dust storms, significantly reducing horizontal visibility. A maritime alert has also been issued for the Mediterranean Sea, where wind speeds could reach 70 km/h and wave heights may peak at 4 meters, causing severe disruptions to navigation.
