ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The calendar says it is early May, but the weather is once again feeling more like late March. Temperatures today never got out of the 40s with passing sprinkles and spotty showers. As we wait for true spring weather to arrive, it will be another chilly night as our temperatures fall in the lower 30s. This will be chilly enough for frost to develop across all of Western New York overnight. However, there are two exceptions that could stay frost free, and that will be the Lake Ontario shoreline and the inner city of Rochester. As a result, most of us have a frost advisory from midnight until 9:00 AM on Sunday.
Tonight, look for any sprinkles to come to an end with gradual clearing overnight. Temperatures will fall into the low 30s. Interesting to note that the record low temperature for Sunday is 27 degrees set back in the 1911. After a frosty start, any morning sunshine will give way to increasing clouds with the chance of a few sprinkles. It will turn breezy with the high temperature in the middle 50s.
Our weather will be much improved by Monday and early Tuesday. You can expect lots of sunshine on Monday. It will turn breezy and mild with the temperature rising into the middle 60s. The News10NBC First Alert meteorologists anticipate that Rochester will still be in the 60s on Tuesday, but the chance of rain will be on the increase by the afternoon. Unfortunately, this could be a steady rain for Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
