Matcha is having a moment, or maybe it’s never really left. But lately, it feels like it’s everywhere in a new way. Between colorful syrups, layered lattes and cloud-like cold foams, matcha has officially entered its fun era, and I am fully on board. As someone who has always been a tea-over-coffee person, matcha drinks are in constant rotation in my routine, but even I couldn’t ignore the viral strawberry matchalattetaking over my feed, so naturally, I had to dig in.
The result? A stunning, layered latte that tastes just as good as it looks and might just be my new favorite way to sip into spring.

Do Matcha and Strawberry Taste Good Together?

Matcha has a naturally grassy, slightly savory flavor with a hint of umami, and when you use a high-quality powder like Organic Ceremonial Jade Leaf Matcha- Barista Edition, it’s also smooth and subtly sweet, and not bitter at all. That flavor pairs beautifully with strawberries, which bring brightness, acidity and a natural sweetness to the mix. Together, they create a drink that’s layered, refreshing and surprisingly balanced.

For this strawberry matcha latte, you’ll need just a few simple ingredients: high-quality matcha (I used Jade Leaf Matcha for its smooth, vibrant flavor), your milk of choice (I went with almond milk for a light, nutty base), and a homemade strawberry vanilla syrup to bring sweetness and that fresh, fruity brightness to the drink.

If you don’t have matcha tools, you can still make a great matcha with a handheld frother or small whisk. For the syrup, all you need is a small pot and a blender. And it never hurts to have an adorable glass for serving.

Add the water, strawberries and sugar to a pot, and bring to a gentle boil. Once bubbling, turn off the heat. Blend the mixture until smooth, then stir in the vanilla bean paste. Let it cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes before transferring to a jar and storing in the fridge.

Sift 1–2 teaspoons of Jade Leaf Ceremonial Barista Edition Matcha into a bowl to remove any clumps and add about 1/4 cup of cool water. Using a bamboo whisk, whisk in a zig-zag motion until the matcha is fully dissolved and a light foam forms on top.

Add strawberry syrup to the bottom of a glass, followed by ice and your milk of choice. Slowly pour the prepared matcha over the top to create that signature layered look.
