BUFFALO, N.Y. — A big honor for Sabres Head Coach Lindy Ruff. He’s nominated for the Jack Adams Award, honoring the best head coach in the league.
Ruff last earned the award as head coach of the Sabres back in the 2005-2006 season, and was a runner up the following year.
The winner is determined by a poll among members of the NHL Broadcasters’ Association. Ruff is one of three finalists along with the Pittsburgh Penguin’s coach and Tampa Bay Lightning coach.
This season, the Sabres won the Atlantic Division title for the first time ever, and made their first playoff appearance in 15 years.
Buffalo will be playing game six Friday night at TD Garden in Boston. The Sabres are leading the series 3-2. If they win, they’ll punch their ticket to the NHL quarterfinals. But if not, they’ll return to Buffalo for game seven.
