Pedro Medrado, a native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, will continue his swimming career in the United States at Pennsylvania State University beginning in the fall of 2026. Medrado is a versatile swimmer who shows strength in distance freestyle, butterfly, and medley events.

Medrado posted several personal bests in freestyle events at the 2025 Brazilian Junior Summer Interclub Championship (LCM) in December, including the 200 free, 400 free, and 800 free. He won the 200 free (1:50.50), 400 free (3:53.95), 200 fly (2:01.54), and 400 IM (4:25.71). Medrado also finished 2nd in the 800 free (8:20.37) and 200 IM (2:05.43), and placed 3rd in the 100 back (58.79), 200 back (2:07.10), and 200 breast (2:20.70).
At the 2025 Brazilian Swimming Championship (LCM) in October, Medrado secured lifetime bests in the prelims of the 200 fly (2:00.94) and 200 IM (2:03.82). He made it to finals in four events, finishing 3rd in the 400 IM (4:27.35), 7th in the 200 fly (2:04.04) and 200 IM (2:04.91), and 15th in the 400 free (3:59.28).
Medrado took victory in the 400 IM with a PB of 4:23.46 at the 2025 South American Youth Championship (LCM) in September. He also placed 5th in both the 100 back (58.26) and 200 back (2:07.16).
At the 2024 Brazilian Youth Summer Championship (LCM) in November, Medrado won the 200 free (1:51.55), 200 back (2:05.22), and 400 IM (4:29.82). He finished as the runner-up in the 100 free (51.89), 400 free (3:57.44), and 100 back (57.59). His times in the 100 free, 100 back, 200 back, and 100 fly all remain lifetime bests.

Medrado has the potential to impact the team upon arrival, especially in the 200 fly. His converted time would have been the fastest on Penn State’s roster last season. It also would have qualified for the ‘C’ final at the 2026 conference championships.
Caleb Kattau, Gabriel Campos, Roman Dawson, and Charlie Begin will join Medrado on campus in the fall. Kattau also holds a strong time in the 200 fly (1:45.55).
