ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A cold front will pass across Western New York but will stall and become somewhat stationary across Central New York. Then several waves of low pressure will move along the front and once again bring steady rainfall. Since the ground is already saturated, it will not take much rain before area creeks and streams rise. No flooding is expected, but “standing” water and ponding on roadways can be expected. We do not anticipate any severe weather, so the News10NBC threat tracker will remain green at this time. If we see as much rainfall as we expect over the next 24 hours (near and inch), this will bring this April into the top ten list for the wettest Aprils in history.
Tonight look for partly to mostly cloudy skies with just the chance of a shower through the Finger Lakes. The low temperature will be in the upper 40s. Wednesday should start dry and cloudy, but rain will arrive by late morning and continue into the afternoon. The temperature will only rise into the middle 50s.
On Thursday night, the showers will become more intermittent with the low temperature near 40 degrees. Thursday and Friday features a mix of clouds and sun with the chance of a passing shower. On both days the temperature will be within a few degrees of 50.
It does look mainly dry for the weekend. Unfortunately, this cool and unsettled weather pattern will continue into the first week of May.
