Suns’ Jordan Goodwin, Thunder’s Jalen Williams out for Game 4 ...Middle East

Sport by : (Arizona sports) -

Suns guard Jordan Goodwin (calf) has been ruled out for Game 4 against the Oklahoma City Thunder as Phoenix tries to stave off elimination on Monday.

Oklahoma City will again be without two-way star and Valley product Jalen Williams (hamstring) for the second straight game.

Goodwin’s defensive intensity has been missed with Phoenix on the brink of elimination at the hands of the reigning NBA champions. Goodwin averaged 4.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 70 regular-season games, coming off the bench in all but 10 of those.

Goodwin had nine rebounds, six steals and scored 19 points (7-of-11 shooting) during the Suns’ second play-in game against the Golden State Warriors.

Mark Williams remains out for Suns

Mark Williams (left foot third metatarsal stress reaction) is out, Suns head coach Jordan Ott said Sunday.

He has been absent from the last five Suns games dating back to the play-in game against the Warriors on April 17.

Can Suns take advantage of Jalen Williams' absence for Thunder?

Williams played 22 minutes in the first play-in contest against the Portland Trail Blazers, which decided the seventh seed in the Western Conference playoff bracket.

The 7-foot-1, 240-pounder originally drafted by the Charlotte Hornets in 2022 has played a career-most 60 games this season despite nearly missing all of March because of a left foot stress reaction.

Sharpshooter Grayson Allen returned to action in Game 3 on Saturday after dealing with a left hamstring injury, scoring seven points (2 for 8 from 3) in 17 minutes off the bench. Allen was not listed on Monday’s NBA injury report.

He had been available in every game dating back to the first play-in game on April 14, but didn’t get on the floor.

“For maybe one or two of the games, (I) was close to being ready,” Allen told reporters Sunday. “I think it was a unique situation but at this time of the year even if you’re 1%, 2% scenario of (playing) happening, being available just in case was important.

“It felt good to get back out there and play. Playoff basketball is different, a lot of fun, so I was happy I was able to contribute a little bit last game.”

Allen added he liked what he saw on tape from his overall movement, especially when moving at high speeds, which hamstring injuries can affect the most.

Suns-Thunder Game 4 gets underway at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Listen to the action on 98.7 and the Arizona Sports app. The game can be seen on Peacock and NBC Sports Network.
