Thiruvananthapuram: In an agonising incident in Kerala, a six-year-old girl, adopted just a fortnight ago, lost her foster mother in a road accident. Vallomkunnel M.P. Joy and his wife Sally who had no children, adopted six-year-old Jewel from Delhi only a fortnight ago. Joy and Sally had decided years ago that if their first child was a girl they would name her Jewel. The accident occurred on the Ettumanoor-Manarcad bypass road in Kottayam district when Sally and Jewel were crossing the road. A speeding car hit Sally, 45, and the young Jewel only remembers that her mother pushed her out of harm’s way.
