Predicted DC Playing XI vs RCB: No place for Nissanka, Starc comes in with immediate effect ...Middle East

Delhi Capitals must be seething. Now, the time has come to get in Mitchell Starc for sure. ON Saturday, the Axar Patel-led team lost to PBKS, despite setting a target of 265. What was even more remarkable is, Punjab Kings looked like winning, right from the very first over of the second innings. And eventually they won by six wickets, and seven balls to spare.

DC bowling unit were a big failure — with Auqib Nabi giving 41 runs in 2 overs, Mukesh Kumar giving 55 in 3, Natarajan giving 54, while Kuldeep Yadav gave away 46 runs. You can’t justify this sort of a performance, especially when the batters did an excellent job. KL Rahul scored 152 in 67, while Nitish Rana scored 91.

So, when they face RCB on Monday, it would be interesting to see, what changes they come up with, which are very much needed by the 6th placed team. What only added to their woes is, Lungi Ngidi picking up a head injury, making his availability an issue.

Pathum Nissanka out, Prithvi Shaw in

Look, Nissanka is failing to provide stability or aggression at the top, and needs to be replaced. In 7 matches, he has scored 147 runs at a strike-rate of 150. What is stopping Axar from getting in Prithvi Shaw? There is no guarantee that Shaw will be successful, but if a player is failing constantly, why not try another resource available.

If not Shaw, get in Abhishek Porel at the top of the order. If Nissanka is removed, and Indian batter is removed, an additional foreign bowler can be played. In SMAT 2025, he had gone on to score 225 runs in 7 matches, at an SR of 175.

Auqib Nabi experiment fails

There were a lot of hopes from this J&K bowler, but he is yet to pick up a wicket in the IPL. In three matches he has conceded 94 runs, at an economy of 13.42. That is unacceptable at this level. Instead, another pacer could be roped in. Maybe Dushmantha Chameera comes in. The latter has picked up 13 wickets in the 19 IPL matches he has played.

Doubts over Ngidi, Starc to be fast-tracked

It looks highly unlikely for now, that Ngidi would be able to recover for Monday’s game; in his 7 matches he picked up as many wickets at a decent economy of 8.70. Now, that he could be out, Starc is in India already, and no time should be wasted to play him. DC can still recover in the IPL and make the top 4, if they can string a few wins together, and they need a bowler like the Aussie for that.

Last year in the IPL, he had 14 wickets, while in 2024, he ended with 17 in 14. So he can make a real difference.
