ROCHESTER, N.Y. — About 150 people rallied for the release of Dolores Bustamante, a Wayne County woman detained by ICE during an immigration check-in.

News10NBC’s Declan Stablow was at the rally at the First Unitarian Church of Rochester and heard from Bustamante. Bustamante’s family called her on the phone to speak to the crowd.
She said she was doing OK and was thankful for the support.
Friends and coworkers sent a message to Bustamante, saying they miss her. They said her cat still looks for her in the morning.
Members of her family fought back tears as they spoke about her impact. They said it’s been difficult not knowing when or if they’ll see Bustamante again.
“It’s been very hard for them to not know what’s going to happen to their grandma, to their mother, to their partner, so it’s been really disconcerting. We didn’t know where she was for a while. About 30 hours we had no idea where to find her. So I think there was a little relief once we got in contact with her on Friday morning,” said Carly Fox, a family friend.
Thursday, a federal judge in Rochester ordered ICE to hold off on removing Bustamante from the country until the court can deal with her lawyer’s motion to keep her in the U.S. Bustamante doesn’t have a criminal record but she did have an immigration court order of removal.
She’s currently being held in Louisiana.
