ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Saturday marks National Prescription Drug Takeback Day. Some local police departments, grocery stores, and other groups are teaming up to give the community a way to dispose of unwanted medication.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration says unused prescription drugs often pose a risk in households and to the environment. Here’s where you can drop off prescription drugs on Saturday.
Tops Friendly Market
People can drop off prescription drugs at all 54 Tops pharmacy locations. All year-round, people can anonymously drop off medication at Tops during regular pharmacy hours. Look for the marked disposal bins near the pharmacy. You can see a list of pharmacy locations here.
Wegmans
People can drop off prescription drugs at 47 different Wegmans locations, including some in the Rochester area. All of the takeback events run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Only pills and patches will be accepted, not liquids, needles, or sharps. Here’s the list of Rochester-area stores taking part:
