Must-win Amerks playoff game (Friday)
The Rochester Amerks must win their game on Friday at the Blue Cross Arena to continue their playoff journey. They’re facing elimination in their best-of-three series against the Toronto Marlies.
The Amerks lost game one 5-0 at Toronto’s Coca-Cola Coliseum on Wednesday night. Now, they’re back in Rochester. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m., and you can get tickets here. If the Amerks win, they’ll play game three to decide the series.

Imagine RIT (Saturday)
Rochester Institute of Technology students will showcase their projects with artificial intelligence, virtual reality, engineering, and more at the 19th annual Imagine RIT.
The free festival returns on Saturday with over 450 exhibits, more than ever before, across the campus in Henrietta. It runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with over 2,800 students presenting their work. Ahead of Imagine RIT, News10NBC got a preview of some projects students have been working on and spoke with festival leaderes about how they’re aiming to promote innovation.

It includes exhibits in AI, cybersecurity, assistive technology, gaming, sustainability, entrepreneurship, art and design, robotics, computing, photography, performing arts, and more. This marks the first Imagine RIT since the campus’s new performing arts center opened. There will be tours of the new center.
Visitors can park for free on the RIT campus on a first-come, first-served basis. There will also be free shuttle bus services between Monroe Community College and the RIT campus. You can learn more about parking options here.
Newberry Film Festival (Saturday)
The Dryden Theatre at the George Eastman Museum will screen a series of 90-second films inspired by Newbery-winning children’s books on Saturday.
The 15th annual Newberry Film Festival showcases short films created by children and teens from the Rochester area and across the country. It kicks off at 2 p.m. Admission is free, but you’re encouraged to register in advance here.
The festival is inspired by the Newbery Medal, one of the most prestigious awards in children’s literature since 1922. James Kennedy, author of “The Order of Odd-Fish”, and Bruce Coville, author of “The Unicorn Chronicles” and “Aliens Ate My Homework”, will be the hosts. The festival aims to promote reading and creativity for children.
C.U.R.E. 5K run and walk (Saturday)
A 5K on Saturday will raise money for the C.U.R.E. Childhood Cancer Association. It starts and finishes at the Monroe Community College Brighton campus, beginning and ending in lot G.
The 17th annual C.U.R.E. 5K Run and Fun Walk is expected to draw over 500 people. The money will support children and families impacted by childhood cancer or a chronic blood disorder in the Rochester area. The goal is to raise over $70,000 for C.U.R.E., which is marking its 50th anniversary and recently bought a new building.

Registration opens at 8 a.m. The runners will start at 9 a.m. and the walkers will start ten minutes later. Once participants finish, they’re invited to check out the new facility at 103 White Spruce Blvd. for a post-race celebration. You can see a course map, register, and donate here. C.U.R.E. was founded by Rochester parents who lost children to cancer.
BrickUniverse LEGO fan expo (Saturday and Sunday)
A LEGO art experience is coming to The Dome Area in Henrietta. The fifth annual BrickUniverse Celebration will include creations from renowned LEGO artists from around the country. Guests can also create LEGO works of their own and shop for LEGO products, including rare finds.
BrickUniverse runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. At the event, people can meet the LEGO artists and meet local LEGO enthusiasts. You can get tickets here.
