– Another Sun Devil drafted on Day 1
Arizona State saw another prospect go off the board on Thursday, with OT Max Iheanachor heading to the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 21.
Iheanachor met with the Cardinals this offseason on a local visit. Arizona was also in attendance for ASU’s pro day.
– USC WR Makai Lemon lands with Philadelphia at No. 20
– More trench additions
The next three picks went as followed:
17. Clemson OT Blake Miller (Detroit Lions) 18. Florida DT Caleb Banks (Minnesota Vikings) 19. Georgia OT Monroe Freeling (Carolina Panthers)
– Oregon TE Kenyon Sadiq drafted by Jets at No. 16
– Another potential Cardinals target off the board
After being linked to the Cardinals throughout most of the offseason, Bain heads to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at No. 15 overall.
The big question surrounding him centered on his small arms.
– Penn State OG Olaivavega Ioane to Baltimore at No. 14
– The big shock of the first round
So about all that Ty Simpson-Cardinals talk…
Instead of being the next Cardinals quarterback, Simpson instead heads to the Los Angeles Rams at No. 13 overall.
You better believe a lot of eyes are going to watch his career play out from afar.
– Alabama OL Kadyn Proctor heads to Miami at No. 12
– Ohio State S Caleb Downs goes No. 11 to Dallas
– Big-time protectors off the board
Two names linked to the Cardinals this draft cycle, Utah’s Spencer Fano and Miami’s Francis Mauigoa, heard their names called in consecutive picks.
Fano landed with the Cleveland Browns following their trade with Kansas City.
Mauigoa heads to the New York Giants at No. 10 overall.
The Miami product was the most commonly linked prospect to the Cardinals in the Arizona Sports Mock Draft Tracker this offseason.
– The first Sun Devil off the board
Despite not being the No. 1 wide receiver off the board, ASU’s Jordyn Tyson still heard his name called inside the top 10 at No. 8 overall.
He now heads to the New Orleans Saints.
– Commanders take Ohio State LB Sonny Styles at No. 7
– Kansas City makes first trade of NFL Draft
The Kansas City Chiefs made a move up the draft board, dealing Nos. 9, 74, 148 to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for the No. 6 pick.
The Chiefs then used that pick on LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane.
– Buckeyes go back-to-back
Another one…
Following Tate in the draft order was Ohio State teammate Arvell Reese, who landed with the New York Giants at No. 5 overall.
– Carnell Tate marks first wide receiver off the board
While Tyson got a lot of love as the potential first wide receiver off the board on Thursday, the honor instead goes to Ohio State’s Carnell Tate.
He lands with Tennessee Titans at No. 4 overall.
– Cardinals stick and pick Jeremiyah Love
Despite smoke about potentially trading down out of No. 3 overall, the Cardinals decided to stay put and take Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love.
Love brings an instant boost to the Cardinals running backs room. The big question now centers on whether the line can hold up in front of him.
– David Bailey heads to the Big Apple
The Jets opted against Ohio State’s Arvell Reese and instead went with pure pass rusher David Bailey.
Reese was among the top names linked to the Cardinals this draft cycle.
– Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza goes No. 1
No shocker here. Fernando Mendoza has been linked to the Las Vegas Raiders’ No. 1 overall pick since the end of the regular season.
He now joins first-year head coach Klint Kubiak, who was also in the mix for the Cardinals’ vacancy before they landed on Mike LaFleur, in Sin City.
