ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Another morning that feels like winter… But don’t worry, no snow today! Instead a southwest wind will usher in more seasonable temperatures with highs in the mid 50s this afternoon. We start sunny, but clouds will fill in as the day goes on. Rain showers move through mainly south of Rochester overnight, but they should be out of the region by 9am tomorrow.
The warming trend continues through at least Thursday, though we won’t be seeing the 70s. Inland areas will be in the low 60s, and due to lake breeze it will be 5-10 degrees cooler to the north. There is some uncertainty as to how far inland the lake breeze will reach, but Rochester should see the mercury rise to at least the mid-to-upper 50s.
There is also some uncertainty about the temperature Friday due to a frontal boundary setting up over New York State… If it reaches far enough west, we may only get to the upper 40s at best. If it holds to the east, we’ll get near 60. The boundary may also help to spark up some light rain showers. We’re closely tracking the trends in the observational and modelling data and will continue to update the forecast for Friday, so stay tuned. We also expect rain to enter the by Saturday morning lasting through the day, but we should start next week dry.
