ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Mother Nature reminded us that Spring can still look and feel like winter here in WNY, with bursts of snow and graupel on Monday. Those hints of winter will be in the rearview mirror by Tuesday morning (sort of). It’ll be a chilly start to Tuesday, with temperatures in the 20s away from Lake Ontario, and some frost on the ground. So if you’ve already planted any temperature-sensitive plants, you’ll want to bring them in or protect them. But, a warm front lifting through will help to boost our temperatures back into the lower to mid 50s pretty quickly. We’ll also see a mix of clouds and sun with that front. A few stray showers will be possible later in the afternoon and evening with that front, otherwise expect quiet and dry weather.
In fact, our quiet weather will last through much of this week. Temperatures will moderate back into the upper 50s and lower 60s. The one thing we’ll be watching is a lake breeze kicking in during the afternoons Wednesday through Friday. A light overall wind will allow a cool lake breeze to settle in, especially north of Rochester during the afternoons, which will tend to keep temperatures locked into the 50s and even 40s right along the lakeshore.
Our next chance of any widespread rain shouldn’t arrive until Friday and Saturday of this week. Severe weather doesn’t look likely, and we remain green on the Threat Tracker.
