ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A major shock to the senses today as temperatures continue to drop to well below normal for this time of year. By the way, we were near 80 degrees forty hours ago. No biggie.
We actually even have the chance to see some passing flurries this morning… But nothing of concern, so we stay Green on the Threat Tracker. The only areas you may see snow sticking will be on grassy surfaces and areas of higher elevation, and even then it will be a few tenths of an inch to half an inch at most. Also, our average last snowfall date is April 26th, so if this is indeed the last snow until next winter then TECHNICALLY it will have happened early, believe it or not. Snow showers move from north to south through the morning with very decent clearing in our skies for the afternoon and evening. That will allow us to warm up to around 40 degrees. Yippee! Too bad the northwest wind will make it feel more like the low 30s at best.
Tuesday morning will be just as frigid as this morning if not a little worse with lows in the mid 20s to low 30s. But some warmth returns, with highs in the mid to upper 50s alongside mostly cloudy skies. We may get a passing rain shower overnight, before drier weather and the return of springlike temperatures Wednesday.
We get several days in a row with partly to mostly sunny skies and seasonable warmth which will help to make up for this shocking cold, though we wish it could be as warm as last week. But we’ll take upper 50s/low 60s if it means we don’t have to deal with any rain. Unfortunately, we may be dealing with that to start next weekend.
