ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Honor Flight Mission 94 returned to the Rochester airport late on Sunday morning.
Crowds were there carrying signs to greet 58 veterans who served in the Korean War, Cold War, Vietnam and more. News10NBC photojournalist Andy Heinz spoke with John Sullivan, who served in the Navy during Vietnam.
“When I got out we didn’t have that thank you for your service, it was more getting spit on, you’re a baby killer, lot of demonstrations which I can understand, but it didn’t do any good for the guys coming back. Today it kind of makes up for it. To me at least and probably any Vietnam Vet that went through that type of, coming home with no welcome and being disliked for your service,” said Sullivan.
There were 33 Army, 19 Navy, 5 Air Force veterans and one Coast Guard veteran who returned today. News10NBC’s own meteorologist Stacy Pengen emceed the event.
