ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Thomas Warfield was honored at a special reception at the Dyer Arts Center ahead of the opening night of his final production, “Pure Imagination: The Magical Candy Shoppe.”
Warfield, a performer, choreographer, director and activist, was recognized for nearly three decades of service to RIT and his lasting contributions to Rochester’s performing arts community. The city of Rochester and Monroe County also honored Warfield.
He said he has mixed emotions about his final production.
“It’s exciting because it’s opening night, but of course it’s a little bittersweet because it’s also the closing of something,” Warfield said. “But that’s how life is, there’s a closing and an opening then there’s an opening and a closing.”
Warfield said he’s not sure what the future holds, but he’s excited to see what’s next.
