GREECE, N.Y. — Since early March, Greece Police Department detectives have been involved in an investigation into stolen and altered checks, taken from a mailbox along Latta Road, according to police. Greece police say the finding is part of a larger multi-county investigation, resulting in an arrest of a suspect on Thursday.

On Thursday, police say Eric Gibbs of Middleport was arrested, 38, after investigators looked into multiple banks and surveillance footage.
Gibbs was charged with six separate cases of identity theft in the first degree, criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, and grand larceny in the fourth degree.
The investigation is ongoing and police say more charges are pending.
